Permissionless lending
Permissionless lending is credit infrastructure that anyone with a wallet can use without asking permission: no application review, no account approval, no institution deciding who qualifies as a lender or borrower. The rules live in smart contracts that treat every participant identically, and access is global by default. Risk decisions don’t disappear — they move to the edges, where each lender decides whom to fund based on open signals like on-chain reputation instead of a bank deciding for everyone.
If lending is permissionless, what stops bad borrowers?
Transparency and pricing, not gatekeeping. Every borrower’s on-chain history and reputation are visible before anyone funds them; lenders simply decline or price up borrowers whose record doesn’t justify the risk. And because every loan and repayment is public on-chain, a borrower’s track record is there for the next lender to see.
How is permissionless different from non-custodial?
They answer different questions. Non-custodial means no company holds your funds — a smart contract does. Permissionless means no company controls who participates. A protocol can be one without the other; Unlloo’s crowd loans are designed around both principles.
